Local Outreach
Reaching our Jerusalem
Reaching

Local missions is an ongoing effort of Applewood Baptist Church.

INVITE! The church outreach process is carried out through the Life Application groups. Every member is encouraged to invite people around them; friends, relatives, work associates and neighbors to come to a Life Application group and worship.

Applewood is also involved in planting churches in the Denver metro area.
Have you heard about these new churches?

• High View Church – in downtown Denver, Brad and Haley Hovis, www.highviewchurch.com

• The Gathering – in Roxborough Park, David and Amy Jarboe, www.trulylive.org

• Stone Creek Church – in Broomfield, John and Pam Carroll, stonecreek@inbox.com

• Inside Out Church – in Fort Collins, Nate and Erin Templin, thetemplin@gmail.com

Applewood is actively involved in these churches and church starts. We are supporting them financially, praying for them and even sending teams to prayer walk in their areas. Pastor Calvin also plans to mentor these pastors every month in a group setting. You can personally encourage the pastors with a letter or an email. For more information on the churches, visit their websites or pick up a copy of our weekly prayer sheet from the information display in the south foyer. Please pray as we strive to 'reach our Jerusalem.'

Short-term projects are often developed and completed by various groups within the church. For information on getting involved in a local project, start with your Sunday school class. Dave Brown, Sr. Associate Pastor, oversees church outreach. You may also wish to check our World Missions page for international missions opportunities.

Celebrate America Report

Celebrate America 2010 was a great success! Hundreds of guests were treated to great music, free food, and all kinds of activities. Over 160 Applewood volunteers (not counting staff) worked very hard to make it a great day.

Visitors of all ages enjoyed the high-flying BMX stunt team. There were people dangling and bouncing from the Euro-bungee. Inflatable mazes, slides, and obstacle courses were full of children having fun. People of all ages were entertained by jazz and big band music.

The return of the car show was obviously a huge hit with the community. More cars than ever before were registered, and visitors enjoyed voting for their favorites.

At the end of the day, we were blessed by the music of the Legacy Quartet. We were reminded through their music that it truly is only ‘under God’ that our nation can be blessed.

There was pie, pie and more pie! But when the dust settled, nearly every one of the 800 pieces of pie was gone.

The Outcast BMX team shared the gospel with those who watched, and visitors to the ministry booths may have found something to draw them back. Or the messages of the songs could have

pointed someone to Christ. Perhaps a volunteer spoke to a guest in such a way that the guest is now considering attending a worship service. Let’s pray for results that will bring glory to God.

Thanks to all those who donated water, brought pie, or contributed in other ways. To our wonderful volunteers, THANK YOU! There’s no way we could have done it without you. Special thanks to the Celebrate America coordinators, Tammy Sadler and Mona Ritter, for their great work!
